The parish church of San Breixo de Lamas is the main religious landmark of this rural parish in the Tabeirós valley. Its origins are ancient, as it is believed that in the year 914 Bishop Sisnando of Iria donated the places of Codesión and Lamas to the Monastery of Pico Sacro, a fact that demonstrates the early existence of the parish settlement. Traditionally located in A Frondieira, the church was moved to its current site after the original building collapsed due to instability of the ground.
The church features a lintelled, framed and moulded doorway, with an impost line crowned by a triangular pediment and finished with a straight cornice. To the south rises the bell tower over a large central structure, while the side walls are plain. The sacristy is attached to the north wall, and the complex is completed by a chapel on the southern side. Inside, several images of devotional and artistic interest are preserved, including a notable carving of the Virgin of Carmen, with particular emphasis on the polychrome image of the Virgin Peregrina.
Today, the church continues to function as an active parish temple and as one of the representative elements of the religious heritage of A Estrada. Its presence, together with the adjoining cemetery and the surrounding traditional rural housing, helps to understand the historical structure of Galician rural parishes, where the church, the churchyard and the houses formed the core of community life.
