The pilgrim’s historic shortcut

Camino de Invierno

The Camino de Invierno runs through the heart of the Deza region, between forests, rivers and historic towns. Three stages to discover an authentic, welcoming territory rich in heritage.

A route with identity

An alternative to the cold

It originated as a medieval variant to avoid the snow and harsh conditions of O Cebreiro in winter, following a gentler and safer alternative route.

A natural gateway to Galicia

Coming from Ponferrada, it crosses the four Galician provinces and enters the Deza region through Rodeiro before continuing towards Lalín and Silleda.

Valleys and villages

The section through Deza combines rural paths, small villages and a highly cultivated landscape that reveals the most authentic inland Galicia.

The pilgrim's tip

Be prepared for elevation changes and check the weather before starting stages such as Monte Faro. Comfortable footwear and an extra layer can make all the difference, not just in winter.
