The Medieval Bridge of Pedroso is a structure of medieval origin located in the municipality of Rodeiro, dating back to the 12th century. It consists of a single arch formed by large granite voussoirs, resting on ashlar masonry bases set directly into the rock of the Arnego River. The structure preserves stone parapets on both sides of the roadway, designed to protect travellers crossing the bridge.
The crossing connects the municipalities of Rodeiro and Lalín and historically formed part of the Winter Way of the Camino de Santiago, one of the pilgrimage routes leading to Santiago. Its layout and state of preservation make it a reference point for pilgrims, who still cross this medieval engineering work today as they continue their journey towards Compostela.
In addition to its architectural and historical value, the area surrounding the bridge is rich in tradition and legend. According to the Rodeiro municipal planning catalogue (PXOM), it is believed that the geographical centre of Galicia lies near this construction, adding a symbolic and cultural dimension to this singular bridge, which has remained standing for almost a millennium.
