The great inland route

Vía de la Plata

The Via de la Plata crosses the Deza region following one of the oldest Camino de Santiago routes. As it passes through Lalín, Silleda and A Estrada, it combines historical heritage, rural landscapes and the essence of inland Galicia.

The great inland route

An ancient route

It follows the path of the old Roman road that once connected Mérida and Astorga, later used by pilgrims travelling from southern Spain.

A meeting point of routes

Its path joins the Camino de Invierno, making the Deza region one of the main historic Camino crossroads in inland Galicia today for pilgrims.

Flavours of Deza

Cocido is one of the main gastronomic highlights of the route, with Lalín as a key reference for pilgrims seeking tradition and flavour.

WHERE TO EAT & STAY

The pilgrim's tip

Plan your stages carefully and carry water, especially in summer, as some stretches are long and offer little shade. Take advantage of the main towns to rest and enjoy the local gastronomy.
