The Galician Museum of Toys and Puppets, located in the Pazo de Liñares in Lalín, is a cultural space dedicated to the world of toys, combining history, art and playful tradition. Spread across several rooms of the manor house, the museum houses thousands of toy pieces from different periods, puppets from various parts of the world and traditional festival figures, together with a space dedicated to José Silvent “Barriga Verde”, a pioneer of puppet theatre who toured Galicia with his performances during the 20th century. The museum also features the Loriga Room, dedicated to Joaquín Loriga Taboada, a distinguished native of the manor and a pioneer of Spanish aviation. Under the name “Imaxina”, the museum offers a journey through the history and magic of toys and puppetry. The collection of the collector A. Chaves includes more than a thousand pieces related to the circus, cinema, transport, animals and dolls, among many other themes. On the ground floor there are rooms dedicated to the circus, cinema and puppets, as well as a multimedia room with audiovisual projections that help visitors discover the creativity and imagination associated with the world of play. A wide selection of toys from different periods is displayed, allowing visitors to observe the evolution of toys over time. On the upper floors there is a small theatre for puppet shows and shadow theatre, together with rooms dedicated to the history of puppetry in Galicia and around the world, showing different manufacturing techniques and regional varieties. Among its most unique pieces is an automaton specially created for the museum, forming a space where play, memory and imagination come together to bring visitors closer to an essential part of popular culture.
