The Pardemarín stone cross (cruceiro), in the municipality of A Estrada, is part of the rich ethnographic heritage that characterises this parish in the inland area of Pontevedra. Several stone crosses are preserved throughout the parish territory, reflecting the historical importance of these elements in popular religious practices and in shaping the Galician rural landscape. In fact, Pardemarín once had as many as six examples distributed along its settlements and paths. These stone monuments were traditionally placed at crossroads, churchyards or other prominent rural locations, serving both devotional and symbolic functions for the community.
The Pardemarín cruceiro follows this tradition, being integrated into the network of historic paths of the parish, a territory that was also crossed by ancient pilgrimage routes to Santiago. Its base is square and consists of four steps, the shaft is hexagonal and is topped by a cylindrical capital. On the front appears Christ crucified, while on the reverse side the Virgin is depicted in an attitude of prayer.
Today, the Pardemarín cruceiro is valued as a representative element of Galician popular architecture and local cultural identity. Its presence, together with other stone crosses in the municipality, helps to understand the deep imprint of traditional religiosity on the landscape of A Estrada, inviting visitors to discover how these stone symbols continue to mark both the paths and the memory of the territory.
