The A Laxe pilgrims’ hostel is a public hostel located in the village of A Laxe, in the parish of Bendoiro, in the municipality of Lalín. It stands right at the junction of two important Jacobean routes: the Camino de Invierno and the Vía de la Plata (Sanabrés Route), which makes it a strategic resting point for those walking the Camino de Santiago along these variants. It was opened in 2004 in a restored building near the historic route and has since operated as accommodation for pilgrims carrying a pilgrim credential.
The hostel has capacity for around 28–30 people distributed in two rooms and operates all year round without reservations. Its facilities are designed to meet the basic needs of walkers: it has hot showers, a kitchen, a lounge and reading room, laundry area, clothesline, heating, internet connection in common areas and outdoor spaces. It also has an oratory and serves as a social centre for the local community.
It forms part of the Camino de Santiago hostel network and is a reference point for those walking the Galician stages of the Vía de la Plata and the Camino de Invierno. Thanks to its location and services, A Laxe offers walkers a comfortable and functional place to rest before continuing to the next stages, while its integration into the rural surroundings of Lalín reflects the importance of these hostels both for religious tourism and for the sociocultural vitality of small parishes.
